4. “An eye for an eye and the whole world will be blind.” - Mahatma Gandhi
I think the world will end because of fire (desire and anger).
ReplyDelete"Great anger and violence can never build a nation" said by Nelson Mandela is according to me a clear depiction of the world's end because of many reasons. The world always stands exposed to the risk of war at this point of time due to vulnerable relationships and absence of trust which is born out of desire for resources and expanding area. Human desire and anger will eventually destroy the very earth it has fed off of.

I feel like the world will end because of ice. The first quote by Albert Einstein is a brief but quite exact explanation for the symbolism of ice in the poem. Ice is used to depict indifferences and ignorance. There is evil in the world and many people are getting affected by it. But most just turn a blind eye towards the ones who are being wronged. They dont try to imagine themselves in someone else's shoes and understand what they are going through. It's mostly because we probably don't want to get involved in someone else's problems. But if we move ahead with this mentality and not help others, we won't be able to come together and fight against the evil.
ReplyDeleteThe poem is written by Robert Frost. I think the world will end because of the reason that has been stated in form of a quote by Albert Einstein that the world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything. Albert Einstein here points towards those people who are insensitive. A lot of indifference and hatred is there between people. People are sometimes insensitive towards others which causes isolation between people that disturbs the mental health of people who are affected because of this indifference. I feel that having a good mental space is very important nowadays. Bad mental space can lead to problems such as depressions which can become serious which can result in death of people through suicide. If this happens with everybody, then the world might come to an end because of this.

The poem, 'Fire and Ice' is written by the poet Robert Frost. I think the world will end because of ice like Albert Einstein has implied in his quote. People give one another a cold shoulder and are oblivious to thier plights. They don't stand up for those in despair but rather watch quietly from the shadows. For this reason, many people suffer and having no help, perish. Hence, I believe that the world will end because of ice.

This poem written by Robert Frost talks about how strong and uncontrollable emotions like hate and desire will be the end of humanity. The quote "Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy human beings." by Helen Keller explains the same thing as the poem i.e. The apathy and hatred of human beings is enough for the end of humanity and even science doesn't have a cure for it. Even small things like an insensitive comment can hurt people and create anger in them. And of course the bigger things like indifference among people, bullying, etc. are the causes of things like riots, suicide, etc. Things like these is what will cause the end of the earth.

The referred Poem, Fire and Ice, is written by Robert Frost. The quote by Helen Keller, "Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy of human beings.", carries a similar meaning to the emotions embodied into Ice in the Poem. By this representation, Ice relates to the capability for Humans to be completely indifferent to the pain and suffering of others. As speculated by the poem, this trait in humanity is one of our greatest flaws, and will probably eventually lead to our doom
ReplyDeleteThe poem Fire and Ice is an antithesis poem written by Robert Frost. The quote “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything” by Albert Einstein very well explains the fact that hatred, apathy and indifference ultimately leads to destruction. One might choose to look away from the injustice happening simply because they are not the sufferers and that it isn’t their problem but this type of an attitude wouldn’t benefit anyone and gradually the world would end due to this ignorance and apathy.

Fire and Ice written by Robert Frost talks about the 2 main nominees for the destruction of the world. I feel that the world is more likely to end in Ice. “An eye for an eye and the whole world will be blind.” This quote by Mahatma Gandhi is an accurate representation of the prevailing conditions in this world. The lack of universal acceptance that spreads hate and envy could become a driving cause for the destruction of humanity. Moreover, our attempts to suppress this hate which include threatening and punishment are simply perpetuating this cycle as it is impossible to curb violence with more violence. Hence, a retribution will not lead us to any results and what actually is required is the motivation and education of people in order to bring them to the right side.

ReplyDeleteFire and Ice by Robert Frost is a very thought provoking poem. It makes us reconsider our way of thinking. The poet has mentioned that if the word ended due to fire or ice, he would favour fire which is a metaphor for desire, violence, aggression etc. If I could choose I too would prefer fire but I firmly believe that the end of the world will be due to ice. Ice symbolises coldness, hatred, indifference etc which causes more harm than violence as it affects our mental state, makes us feel hollow and lowers our esteem significantly. When there is no humanity left in humans which is the only thing that separates us from the others, mankind will cease to exist. I too resonate with the quote "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything." by Albert Einstein.

The poem 'Fire and Ice' is an ironic poem written by Robert Frost. According to me Ice is more powerful that fire. The quote 'An eye for an Eye and whole world will become blind' by Mahatma Gandhi well describes the situation. If there would be hatred between the people living together then it would be a great suffering for humanity which would finally result in the destruction of the world. People will become more aggressive and less thoughtful this would result in taking a fast decision without thinking about it properly which can be harmful in future. People would not be sensitive to other people's problem which can hinder the unity and cause a lot of trouble.

I support Helen Keller’s quote with respect to the poem ‘Fire and Ice’ written by Robert Frost- ‘‘Science may have found a cure for most evils, but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy of human beings .''I found this quote to be the most appropriate to describe how human beings are rapidly turning emotionless just as non-living things .As rightly stated by Helen Keller in her quote-that there can be no remedy or cure for passivity of human beings. Referring to the poem, the quote chosen by me refers to ice as a symbol of destructive potential , symbolizing hatred. The poet explains the fact that with hatred, the world around be destroyed twice as much by fire, symbolizing desire. The human emotion hatred has the potential for irreparable damage and inner destruction. Ice describes the coldness in one’s heart and can thus lead to world’s catastrophic end.

ReplyDeleteThe poem Fire & Ice written by Robert Frost believes that human emotions are sufficient to either burn or freeze the world. The poet mentions that both fire and ice are probable ends of this world. While he talks about how fire represents desire and can be a cause of the end of the world, he also mentions ice to symbolise that the coldness and indifference towards on another will also envious to end of the world. The quote by Albert Einstein “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.” Rightfully says that a cold emotion like hate too has considerable power over people, although hate is a silent emotion yet it has the power to destroy the world. Hatred born of cold makes a man insensitive to feelings. Only love, equality, mutual understanding and sympathy for one and all can help in establishing peace on earth.

The poem Fire and Ice by Robert Frost, highlights the destructive emotions of humans which are symbolized by 'Fire' and 'Ice'. As Martin Luther King rightfully stated, "This is the ultimate weakness of violence: It multiplies evil and violence in the universe. It doesn't solve any problems." By this he means to convey the message that Violence which are provoked by desire(fire) and hate(Ice) do not solve any problems. It simply provokes other to do the same until whole Earth is destroyed and there are no humans to feel destructive emotions.

ReplyDeleteIn the poem, “Fire and Ice” by Robert Frost, he discusses how the world might end because of fire and ice which symbolises greed, desire and apathy. I think that I would favour Ice being the reason that ends the world from the quote by Helen Keller. The quote mentions how there is no remedy for apathy that is shown by human beings, which is exactly what Ice represents in the poem. It is when one knows what is going on is wrong yet they choose to not do anything about it. Doing something because of desire and greed is obviously the problem but being a passive onlooker and being apathetic, is worse. Hence, Ice as suggested by the poet, which is talked about in the quote, represents indifferences and apathy is what will cause the end of the world.

The Poem "Fire and Ice" is an ironic poem written by Robert Frost, the use of symbolism is also highlighted here, he uses 'fire' and 'ice' as metaphors which is interpreted as 'desire' and 'hatred'. I support M.K Gandhi's quote here, "an eye for an eye will make the world blind" where he is trying to portray how seeking vengeance and how one's hatred and rage for another can ruin their own mindset. Trying to hurt another person becomes demeaning of one's character and creates a bad impression on others. One thing leads to the other and eventually will finish Earth. All this pent up anger that everyone is channeling the wrong way will come back to us. Disguised as the end of the world.

"Fire and Ice" is a poem written by Robert Frost. The poem touches a topic of which we would have never thought of. "Fire" represents fiery desires and "Ice" represents ignorance . Like Nelson Mandela once said, "Great anger and violence can never build a nation", the poet as well speaks about how harsh and destructive actions are never the solution to any scenario. Hatred, absence of trust and affection and indifference can lead to many paths then one can think of. The world will end with fire as well as ice with human emotions. With the mean environment around the world being twice has heated as fire and sturdy as ice, the world would come to its end eventually.

ReplyDeleteThe poem 'Fire and Ice' written by Robert Frost expresses the idea that the world would end in either of two ways, either by ice or fire. Both the components are compared with self-destructing human emotions: hatred and desire. The poem, underpins the philosophy that we let our emotions rule us and the consequence of unmonitored longing is chaos. Similarly, he thinks fire and ice, both are just as competent in bringing the world to a catastrophic end. “Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy of human beings.” – Helen Keller. I believe in this quote by Helen Keller and I believe the world will end by Ice i.e. hatred. At present, the hatred between humans has got them to kill each other and spread violence. Humanity is diminishing and in a few days,, it'll perish. I believe that the world now, can only be saved by love, peace and sympathy towards one another.

According to me, Einstein's quote, "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything" is an accurate representation of how the world will end. Indifference always hurts the oppressor, never the oppressor. Many people just follow the herd and are not courageous enough to help others. In the poem, “Fire and Ice” by Robert, indifference represents ice. Whenever we see someone hurt, our first thought is “Why should I help that person, someone else will help him anyway”. This attitude doesn’t help anyone. You have a voice, use it. Doing something because of greed is terrible, but just being a mute bystander is worse.

“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.”, this quote by Albert Einstein portrays the indifference and ignorance of the people. It showcases 'bystander apathy' where a person believes that another person will do the work. In the poem, 'Fire and Ice', by Robert Frost, ice symbolizes the hatred, indifference, and insensitivity of the people. This short but impactful poem ponders on the fact of whether the world will end by fire, representing greed and wrath, or ice. Einstein's quote captures the picture that Frost's use of ice portrays, as we have seen in the past as well, what hatred and ignorance can do, when millions suffered the consequences of the Second World War. I believe that if we fall prey to these negative emotions of cruelty once again, it might just lead to the end of humanity, both literally and figuratively.

I think the world can end with fire as well as ice. The quote "Great anger and violence can never build a nation" by Nelson Mandela sums up the fire part pretty well. Everything we and our ancestors have built, can easily and will probably crumble and topple due to human desire, ambition and anger. People have such a great desire for power and other things that they are willing to hurt others and step on anything and everything in their way nowadays which can only lead to more anger and hatred from others. A nation cannot be sustained with that much anger and hatred in its people. Thus, this desire would eventually lead to everything breaking down, nations, countries , which will ultimately lead to human suffering and eventually, may even lead to the end of the world.

I think the world will end because of ice just like Albert Einstein quoted, “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything”. Ice represents the evil of ignorance which leads to death by not caring about what's going on in our environment. People tend to ignore other peoples' problems and turn a cold shoulder towards them, leaving them to suffer without any external help. So, if people keep ignoring others when they are in need, the world will end someday and thus the evil will win because we didn't fight it.

ReplyDeleteIn My perspective, the world will end due to internal conflicts and violence, more so, due to the people who have shown nothing except ignorance towards these growing issues, as correctly quoted by the great Albert Einstein. We humans often think that we are happy as we are, so what sense is possibly there in worrying about the problems of anybody except ourselves? This is an extremely bitter yet true thought process which has unfortunately planted itself in the minds of the modernized civilization. Such thought processes lead to us, turning our back on those who are genuinely helpless and do not enjoy the comforts which we do. These actions create nothing but hate and a seed of hate once planted cannot be stopped until it germinates into an adult tree and destroys the ones who have wronged the sufferers. Let alone the high probability of wars due to the instabilities between superpower nations, Hate is equally capable of destroying the human race as it's both a cause and an effect of conflict.

I firmly believe in Helen Keler's quote. Science consists of concepts, logic and reasons behind the occurrence of the natural and social world around us in a particular manner. Some spheres of humanity have evolved to such an extent that the science behind them is yet to be generated and clarified. Though the fundamental reasons stay unchanged, there is a much debating left for us to develop the final document stating the science of today. The already existing science lacks this concept of apathy as it is something brought about by humanity whose borders are changing continuously.

In my perspective, “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.” by Albert Einstein fits the description of "Ice" in the poem well. Ice is used to describe indifference, destruction and hate. When we look the other way while witnessing injustice, we also become part of the problem. We, people who might have the ability to do something and stop said injustice for happening, are letting it grow. Therefore, as much as the world will come to an end because of fire, violence, desire, lust and greed, ice will have an equally powerful impact.

Fire and Ice is a very strong poem which denotes the destruction which can be caused by the evil people. Both fire and ice would cause equal amount of chaos. For all we know, if we just keep watching, the world, just like that, would end in front of our eyes. Referring to the quote "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything" by Albert Einstein. It is so ironic because although we're not doing the evil, we end up becoming evil for not doing anything. We should not turn a blind eye towards such evil people nor should we encourage. If we encourage, they'd continue to do evil and if we don't do anything they'd still do the evil. Either way, the bad things will happen and thus we should try to stop it. Fire can be stopped by pouring water on it and ice can be stopped by giving some warmth. There's a solution to everything, we just need to try doing it. Otherwise the world might end up coming to an end, by who knows? Could be fire or ice.

I completely agree with Helen Keller's statement, “Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy of human beings.” Over the years, science has indeed developed a lot. It gave us the cure for those diseases, which were considered incurable, some hundred years back. According to me, even if science reaches great heights and makes the human race immortal and free from all diseases, the world is still bound to end. Human emotions are enough to create disasters in this world. They can create disasters with their ignorance and hatred, strong enough to end this world. This 'ignorance' factor in human behavior is indeed strange, for people are ready to ignore injustice and cruelty towards others people, but they can't stand being ignored by other people when they face the same thing. People should stop being selfish and accept that everything in this world is not about 'me' but 'us'

ReplyDeleteAlbert Einstein was a scientist who saw the world for what it really was and thus made this remark. It is quite clear that many years on, it is still as relevant as it was then. We are witnessing global climate changes, the rise of fascism and increasing social issues. Yet neither the common people nor the people in power seem to take any meaningful action. It is not the fact that they do not know but rather that they do not want to take any action. We have the resources but not the will to solve any of our planet's issues. And so, I think that while the world as a planet may not end, humanity and other life will most likely end by ice.

I believe that this quote represents ice and fire both. The apathy of human beings is a symbol of ice but this apathy may be the cause of fire which is a symbol of desire. The cause may be fire but the end result is ice. And so, I think in the end the world will most likely end because of the ice in people's heart cause by desire.

There are endless internal conflicts between nations at present and we're always at risk of war. Moreover environmental deterioration can be a very possible reason for the end of the world. Both these situations can be solved too some extent if we as humans take up initiative. This is what is missing. ReplyDeleteI think that this quote perfectly describes the way fire is used in the poem. The world is always on the brink of war; a single spark can cause the fire raging in man's heart to ignite. This fire symbolises the desire of man. Desire for more power, money, wealth, land, authority etc is the reason wars occur in the first place. This fire therefore leads to wars which further leads to violence which in turn leads to death, poverty, misery, etc. Hence, war cannot build a nation just like desire and thirst (fire) cannot build a nation. According to me this is what will destroy the world: the everlasting desire for more and more and more. Nothing we receive is enough for us. Sometimes we are so busy focusing on what we want we forget it may not be what we need.

ReplyDeleteAs much as fire, which symbolises compelling emotions like anger and lust, corrupts the hearts of people, it would be ice, symbolising indifference and ignorance that would result in the fate of the world because humans stand apart from other creatures due to their ability to feel certain emotions like empathy and compassion. I think the world will end in ice because the growing hatred of people among themselves will be enough to cause a long term damage to the civilization human beings build as well as drag the diverse nature that surrounds them. In reference to the poem Fire and Ice, I feel the world will end in an amalgamation of both the elements, fire representing lust, greed, the desire for more. Some of our world leaders, politicians, people with power and privilege despite having enough of it want more and in turn, turn a blind eye to the real issues that have been plaguing humanity which continue to multiply due to their inaction. Ice represents hatred and ignorance in the form of racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia and more. Suppressing the voices of a particular group and syphoning their discontent will only lead to a more regressive, majoritarian society. At the end of the day, it will be ice that would ultimately lead to the end of the world (more specifically the human race) with fire as a contributing factor. "Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy of human beings.” – Helen Keller

"Violence never really deals with the basic evil of the situation. Violence may murder the murderer, but it doesn’t murder murder. Violence may murder the liar, but it doesn’t murder lie; it doesn’t establish truth. Violence may even murder the dishonest man, but it doesn’t murder dishonesty. Violence may go to the point of murdering the hater, but it doesn’t murder hate. It may increase hate. It is always a descending spiral leading nowhere. This is the ultimate weakness of violence: It multiplies evil and violence in the universe. It doesn’t solve any problems" by Martin Luther king is the quote which I will go for due to it's cordial way of showing the genuine characteristics of violence. His sayings depict the most primeval nature of violence and its affects on human society as a whole. We often fail to recognize the raw violence that is present all around us rather it's effect. Even though violence being an action is meant to be represented through its effects, we should try to look at it is a whole after which we realize that violence is nothing but a false excuse to succumb human desire. As time passes, our desires adapt to the changes around us and as a result, so do our actions. Due to this fact, the idea of the poem 'Fire and Ice' which is was stated in the distant past can't be held on forever, so I can concur with the the poem only to a certain point.

After reading the poem 'Fire and Ice' I feel that the world will end in ice. I support Albert Einstein's quote “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.” In today's world we can see a lot of people suffering indifferences and hatred like, the poor people, labourers, low caste people etc. Those who are doing bad with them are evil but the good people, who don't do anything even seeing all this are the worst. This is because if the good people don't take any step then the evil will take the advantage of it and keep doing this again and again. To stop this we should show humanity towards others and support them. The people, who are facing sufferings should raise their voices and we all should support them.

This poem by Robert Frost discusses how powerful and uncontrollable emotions such as hatred and desire will be the end of humanity. Helen Keller's remark "Science may have found a treatment for most evils; but it has found no prescription for the worst of them all, human apathy." expresses the same idea as the poetry, i.e. Human indifference and hatred are enough to bring mankind to its death, and science has yet to find a solution. Even insignificant things, such as an insensitive remark, can cause individuals to become enraged. And, of course, larger issues such as public apathy, bullying, and so on are the root causes of riots, suicide, and so on. Things like these are what will lead to the end of this world that we have abused over the years.
