Imagine that one of Mr. Herriot’s partners can understand the language of dogs and listens to Tricki on his last night with them.
a) What might Tricki share about his experience?
b) How would he evaluate it in comparison to his home experience?

ReplyDeleteIn this story, we can see Tricki being pampered and heavily spoiled. Mrs Pumphrey adored her dog a great amount and went to great lengths to provide whatever the dog needed, to a point the dog's health, physical and mental were devastatingly worsening. If Tricki were to get the opportunity to describe his experience he would start with explaining how his owner didn't take his health into consideration before feeding or nurturing him, but as he goes on he might mention how Mrs Pumphrey was in fact a kind hearted lady who loved him a lot, and in turn took great care which twisted into bad health. Mrs Pumphrey wasn't sure on how to take care of the dog and did whatever she thought was right. Tricki was initially a healthy dog but was overfed and eventually became fat and extremely lazy. His unsanitation became a major disadvantage to his health thus he was sent to the vet for help.
ReplyDeletea) Tricki would probably talk about his experience as a pampered dog, how Mrs. Pumpherey would bring him the best of the best, things that even most people couldn’t afford. Upon arriving at the surgery, he realised how he was leading an unhealthy lifestyle and one very different when compared to the dogs around him. He would describe the journey he had over the days when he played with them. How he started to fight for his meals as compared to before when he would get overfed. Now he felt much healthier and fulfilled as a result of all the work that he did to go from being a bloated sausage to fit.
ReplyDeleteb)In comparison to his experience at home, things at the surgery were much more in control and disciplined. Back with Mrs. Pumphery, even though she was very loving, she was also overindulgent. Which in the long run was actually harming Tricky. As soon as he arrived at the surgery, he did not eat for 2 days and started licking other dogs’ bowls clean. He even fought for his meals. Earlier he would not be taken out to walks or any form of physical activity lacked, whereas now he started playing with the bigger dogs. Hence, after evaluating the two main reasons why he fell ill in the first place, he definitely got cured and now was healthy.

ReplyDeletea)Tricki would most likely share about how his stay at Mr.Herriot's surgery literally turned out to be life changing experience. He had to step out of his comfort zone and find happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Tricki may not have believed that he was capable of overcoming such a huge obstacle but was glad that he did as the end results made his life much livelier and exciting and also helped him regain his health. Tricki would be delighted about the changes that had occurred in his life with an emphasis on his social life as he now had several friends.
ReplyDeleteb)Tricki's life with Mrs.Pumphrey was extremely extravagant and lavish. Formerly Tricki was accustomed to loafing around and having everything served to him on a silver platter and he must have liked his previous routine quite a lot, but I believe that Tricki loved his new lifestyle more as it challenged him, gave him a purpose and several friends of his own kind. Tricki used to be utterly incapable of being physically active or controlling his food cravings but with Dr.Herriot's help he soon became sturdy and agile.

Tricki was showered alot of love on by madam Pumphrey, mostly because she didn't have any other loved one. At his last day, Tricki would thank the other dogs for their companionship and tell them that he would never have the pleasure of enjoying simple canine pleasures of it were not for his illness and his new friends. At the surgery he learnt to be proactive and toil for food. He transformed from a plump physique to a hard muscled dog. Moreover,he would tell the other dogs about his lifestyle. How he didn't have to anything but show his mistress his brilliant sparkling eyes and bribe her to give him whichever food item he longs for. He also didn't have any regular exercise, as opposed to running around and playing all day long. All in all he would be thankful to Dr.Herriot for taking not a technical approach, but a practical approach for not operating on him or giving him medication, but change his lifestyle so he could get adequate exercise and all the necessary nutrients from his healthy diet.

a) Tricki might have shared about his experience at herriot's place during the surgery as to how different it was from his ususal lifestyle back at home with Madam Pumphrey. Here he actually got to struggle or fight for food and other things with dogs even bigger than himself which not only provided a sense of self accomplishment but also greatly improved Tricki's physical health and he became more proactive than he ever was and his plump physique slowly changed to a strong and hard muscled dog.He would not have been able to experience these basic yet fun canine pleasures if it were not for his illness and his time with Herriot for his treatment
ReplyDeleteb) Tricki would say that back home, Madam Pumphrey provided him with every single luxury that he could think of, sometimes things which most people could not even afford to buy. However, in the process, he slowly became way too pampered in Madam Pumphrey's love and he got anything whenever and wherever he wanted. This greatly affected his physical health, as he slowly turned into a dog with a chubby and plump physique, something exactly opposite of what a dog should be. Dogs are meant for those simple canine pleasures which we humans might not understand most of the time such as fighting for food or wrestling with other dogs, maybe even bigger ones, running in the grass and mud and getting themselves dirty etc. None of these were existent in Tricki's life with Madam Pumphrey. Tricki would now thank Herriot for actually showing him what it meant to be a dog and it did not mean unlimited, expensive luxuries, but the struggle and the fun with other dogs.
